Hazardous Area Wireless Network

Hazardous Area Wireless Network

Hazardous area wireless solution integrates a range of professional advantages. It utilizes wireless products certified for gas and dust explosion protection with IP68 water and dust proof, featuring high reliability, low power consumption, wide coverage, and low latency. The solution is designed for hazardous environments with flammable and explosive atmospheres, including chemical plants, oil refineries, oil and gas platforms, grain processing facility, and plastics manufacturing plants. It supports a variety of applications across complex operational zones, such as wireless coverage, personnel positioning, AGV dispatching, equipment monitoring, and remote supervision systems.

To address the harsh and demanding working conditions in the petrochemical industry, Maxon has built a converged wireless communication network combining WiFi 5 802.11ac/WiFi 6 802.11ax /WiFi 7 802.11be with 4G/5G technologies, providing a stable, high-speed data transmission foundation for the entire plant.

  • Production and Processing Area: WiFi 6 802.11ax explosion proof access points are deployed to support inspection robots (with 802.11k/v/r fast roaming), smart push-to-talk terminals (VoWi-Fi), and UWB positioning /Bluetooth positioning.
  • Crude Oil Storage & Transportation Area:  Explosion proof APs and HD cameras are mounted on explosion proof poles around the tank farm (cameras are connected via fiber optics as the preferred method, with wireless used only as backup or for temporary locations), enabling real-time transmission of liquid level, temperature, and pressure data.
  • Maintenance and Warehousing Area: Gas and liquid leak monitoring is handled by a LoRaWAN low-power sensor network, with data aggregated through gateways and uploaded to the cloud. AGVs and inspection robots operate on a dedicated WiFi 6 802.11ax wireless network to ensure low-latency, seamless roaming.
  • Administrative area: WiFi 6 802.11ax industrial access points are deployed to meet daily office and high-bandwidth needs such as video conferencing.
